Schedule for Spituk to Stok Trekking : 7 Night(s) and 8 Day(s)
Day 01 : Arrive Delhi On arrival meeting and assistance at the Airport followed by the traditional welcome by garlanding and then escorted transfer to your hotel . Rest of the day at leisure . overnight at hotel
Day 02: Delhi - Leh (Complete Rest in Leh for acclimatisation) Take the morning flight for Leh. Check into the guest house and relax the whole day. This is necessary for getting acclimatised. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Leh - Shey - Thiksey – Hemis - Leh On this day you will go a sightseeing trip to some ancient monasteries in this area.such as Thiksay Gompa. Chamday and Tak tok monastery overnight bact Hotel
Day 04 :Leh- Spituk to Zingchen 3600 m (4-5 hours) Our walk begins along an old jeep road on very dry and exposed land, so water and protection against the sun are important! After 3 hours the landscape becomes greener as we go into the Zingchen Valley, where the Rumbak river flows into the Indus. Our camp is in the small village of Zingchen, which means 'big field', where there are just two houses. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying the view and maybe even a dip in the river.
Day 05 : Zingchen to Rumbak 3800 m (3-4 hours) Today we enter Hemis National Park, home to the famous Snow Leopard, Blue Sheep, Ladakhi Urial (a type of goat), great Tibetan sheep (Arghali), red fox, Tibetan wolf, wild dog (dhole), Lynx, marmot and mountain hare. We start to climb gradually up to village of Rumbak, through a beautiful gorge from which the Stok peaks come into view from time to time. Rumbak is known as a place to see and research on the magnificent Himalayan snow leopard.
Day 06: Rumbak – Stokla – Camp Site In the morning after breakfast you will ascend the 4,800-m. Stok Pass also known as the Namlung La. If you are fit and have camped at the plateau just under the pass as all do, you should have no problem climbing up to the pass. One can climb steadily and made it in less than 1.5 hrs.From the campsite walk up east for 10 mins and on your right you will find a path zigzagging up the mountain.At first it looks quite steep. Don’t worry.soon crosses over the cleft to the left and heads up east at a lesstroubling gradient all the way to the pass. Dinner and overnight stay in tent.
Day 07: Camp Site – Stok (3400 M) – Leh Today is an easy day going downhill all the way. Follow the stream on its left bank as it heads north. The path is broad and easy. You will find willows and wild roses growing on islands in the middle of the stream which grows quite wide as you approach Stok. Visit the Stok Palace, residence of the king of Ladakh after he was
Day 8: Leh - Delhi Transfer to the airport for the spectacular flight across the main chain of the Himalaya to Delhi. Upon arrival at Delhi, transfer to domestic airport to catch the flight for onward destination.
